“The Real Reason You’re Always Tired (It’s a Reason Doctors Keep Missing)”

You’ve tried everything.

You’re eating cleaner. Sleeping more. You’ve even (reluctantly) given up coffee after 2 p.m. But the fatigue? It’s still there. Like a fog that never lifts.

You’re not lazy. And you’re definitely not imagining it. But most doctors run the standard labs, shrug their shoulders, and say everything looks “fine.” Meanwhile, you still feel anything but fine.

That’s when people come to me.

I’m Dr. Jack Belitz, and I help people figure out why they’re tired all the time—even when the labs say they shouldn’t be.

After 30 years of helping patients regain their energy, mood, and clarity, I’ve learned one thing:

You can’t fix what you don’t understand.

And most doctors are completely missing one critical piece of the puzzle: your genes.

Meet the Hidden Culprit: Your Mitochondria

Think of your mitochondria as tiny batteries in every single cell. Their job? Make energy.

When they don’t work right, you don’t work right. You get brain fog, muscle fatigue, mood dips, and that dragging feeling that coffee barely touches.

The problem is that standard medical tests don’t look at your mitochondrial function—and they certainly don’t look at the genes that control how well your mitochondria work.

DNA Testing Changed Everything

With the advanced DNA testing I offer in my office, we can now spot gene patterns that silently affect your:

Energy production

Detoxification

Inflammation

Brain chemistry

Stress response

One gene in particular—NDUFS—is a major player. When this gene isn’t working well, your mitochondria don’t produce enough ATP (that’s your energy fuel). You feel like you’re walking through mud every day, even if you eat well and sleep like a log.

It’s Not Just One Gene

Often, there’s a constellation of genes that interact—NDUFS, MAO, COMT, VDR, and the famous MTHFR gene.

Together, they either make your system hum along…

Or they make it crash halfway through your morning.

So What Can You Do?

Here’s what I do in my office, and what you can expect if you come in:

We run a simple cheek swab test—non-invasive, quick, and surprisingly affordable.

We decode your report together—I’ll show you which genes are working against you and what that means.

We build a custom plan—based on your exact gene profile, your symptoms, and your goals.

No one-size-fits-all. No “take this and hope for the best.” Just clear, actionable answers based on your body—not someone else’s.

Is It Worth It?

Absolutely. Especially if you’ve tried everything else.

This kind of testing has helped my patients:

Get their energy back

Feel like themselves again

Lose weight that wouldn’t budge

Reduce or eliminate long-term medications

Finally understand what’s been going on

If you’ve ever said, “I’m so tired of being tired,” this is for you.

Next Step

Call the office at 402-333-4848 or click [here] to schedule a discovery consult.

Let’s find out what your genes are trying to tell us—and help your body finally get back on track.

If you want to understand the more important genes, Here is a rundown of some of the top ones:

1. MAO (“The Warrior Gene”)

This one’s like your body’s semi‑automatic mood radar. It codes for the enzyme MAO (monoamine oxidase) which helps break down serotonin (yes, the “happy” hormone).

Too much serotonin + sluggish MAO = anxiety, irritability, mood swings.

Seen this in the clinic: a patient on SSRIs who was coming out of her skin when the wrong gene variant was ignored.

If your moods feel like they’re controlled by someone else’s remote—MAO could be the culprit.

2. COMT (The “Brain Overdrive” Gene)

COMT stands for catechol‑O‑methyltransferase and it handles the breakdown of adrenaline, dopamine, noradrenaline. If it’s under‑performing, your brain acts like it’s stuck on “hyperdrive.”

You might be super creative, full of ideas… and also unable to turn off your brain at 11 p.m. Sound familiar? That’s COMT.

3. VDR (Vitamin D Receptor – The Multi‑Tool Gene)

Gene name VDR. You thought vitamin D was just for bones? Think bigger.

Helps turn amino acids into neurotransmitters

Boosts immune system

Affects how your body uses minerals

If your vitamin D level is “normal” but you’re still tired, foggy, or your immunity is meh—this receptor might be part of the story.

4. NDUFS (The Energy Switch Gene)

Call it the “why can’t I get off the couch” gene. (Yes, I said it.)

NDUFS (or the “Endofus” gene as I like to call it) helps your body convert food → energy (ATP).

When it’s slow or mis‑wired: fatigue, muscle weakness, weight stagnation. This is a big one.

5. MTHFR (The Famous “Mother Flip‑Flop” Gene)

MTHFR (Methylene Tetrahydrofolate Reductase). Big name. Big role. This gene helps turn folic acid into its usable form. It also helps with methylation—the body’s detox, repair, and neurotransmitter production system.

If you’ve been curious about why detoxing is hard, why your mood is off, or why certain supplements “don’t seem to do anything” – start here.

Your Next Step

Curious? Good. Let’s figure out which tune your genes are playing.

Book time with me, Dr. Jack. We’ll look at your genetics, assess how they’re showing up, and build a strategy that gets your body humming in harmony—not dancing wildly.

Call 402‑333‑4848 or click [here] to schedule your session.

Because it’s not just about knowing your genes—it’s about using them to live better.

The 5 Genes You Need to Know About (If You Want to Feel Like Yourself Again)

By Dr. Jack Belitz, DC — Omaha’s Expert in DNA-Guided Wellness

Let’s face it. Most people know more about their coffee order than they do about their own genes. And yet, those genes could be the very reason you feel tired, anxious, foggy, irritable — or why you gain weight even when you’re eating kale and doing yoga by candlelight.

So today, we’re cutting through the confusion and diving into the top 5 genes I think everyone should know about — because when you understand what’s going on inside your body, you can finally do something about it.

1.

MAO (The “Warrior” Gene) — Mood Mayhem, Explained

If you feel like you’re one email away from snapping or your brain goes into overdrive the minute you sit down to relax, say hello to your MAO gene. It breaks down serotonin — you know, the so-called “happy” chemical.

🧠 Too much serotonin? Think anxiety, rage, irritability, and even panic.

📉 Too little? Depression.

👎 A sluggish MAO gene + an SSRI? Recipe for disaster (and I’ve seen it firsthand).

This is one of the most mood-sensitive genes I test — and it often reveals why some people feel worse on medication.

2. COMT — The Adrenaline Traffic Cop

This one controls how you break down adrenaline, dopamine, and noradrenaline. When COMT’s moving too slowly, your brain basically says: “Let’s never relax again!”

Symptoms of a slow COMT:

Racing thoughts

Insomnia

Anxiety

Can’t shut your brain off

Super reactive to stress

I call this the Scout Gene — your ancestors needed this hyper-alertness to survive saber-tooth tigers. Today, you just get insomnia and panic attacks.

3. Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) — Immunity, Energy & Brain Chemistry

Vitamin D isn’t just about bones. This receptor is crucial for:

Making serotonin and dopamine

Turning on immune cells

Properly using calcium and magnesium

Reducing inflammation

Here’s the kicker: you can take tons of vitamin D, but if this receptor is sluggish, your body might not absorb it properly. I’ve helped countless patients turn around mood and immune challenges just by activating this pathway correctly.

4. NDUFS — The Energy Switch (aka “The END-US Gene”)

Feeling like your battery never quite charges?

The NDUFS gene controls the point where food becomes energy. If it’s not firing, you’re not making enough ATP (your cells’ fuel), which leads to:

Fatigue

Muscle weakness

Brain fog

Sluggish metabolism

In more severe cases: neurological disorders like Parkinson’s

This is one of the genes I’m most passionate about because when we support it correctly — I’ve seen jaw-dropping improvements in energy and muscle strength.

5. MTHFR — The Famous “Mother Flip-Flop” Gene

You’ve probably heard of this one. The MTHFR gene turns folic acid into its usable form and kickstarts your methylation pathways — the body’s system for detoxing, making neurotransmitters, repairing DNA, and so much more.

If you’re not methylating properly, you’re not clearing toxins. You’re not balancing brain chemistry. You’re not repairing damage.

👉 And if you’re pregnant or trying to be? It’s essential for preventing birth defects and supporting healthy development.

So What’s the Point of All This?

If you’ve ever said:

“I don’t feel like myself.”

“My doctor says my labs are fine, but I feel awful.”

“I can’t handle stress like I used to.”

“I’ve tried everything and nothing works…”

You need to get your genes tested — and you need someone who knows how to read the whole picture.

🧬 I don’t just look at one gene. I look at the interactions, the pathways, and how to support your unique blueprint so your body actually works with you — not against you.

🗓️ Ready to Find Out What Your Genes Are Trying to Tell You?

I’ve helped patients across Omaha get their energy back, balance their moods, lose weight, sleep better, and feel in control of their bodies again — all by using targeted, personalized insights from their DNA.

📞 Call now or click here to schedule a consultation.

Let’s decode your health and unlock your full potential — because guess what?

It’s not all in your head. It’s in your genes.

Fall Allergies Driving You Crazy? This Might Be Why…

Fall Allergies Again? Your Gut Might Be to Blame.

Every fall, the sniffles start. You might think it’s just ragweed or mold spores—but here’s something most people (and doctors) miss:

Your seasonal allergies may actually start in your gut.

Let me explain.

Leaky Gut: The Hidden Trigger Behind Allergies

Imagine your gut lining is like a window screen. It’s supposed to let nutrients in and keep larger, harmful things out—like undigested proteins, bacteria, and toxins.

But for many people, that screen becomes torn or loose. This condition is called leaky gut, and when it happens, your immune system goes on high alert. It starts reacting to everything—not just pollen, but also foods, chemicals, even your own body.

Suddenly, your allergies are worse. You feel more bloated. Brain fog creeps in. You’re tired, achy, and wondering why things just feel… off.

So Why Does This Happen to Some People and Not Others?

Here’s where genetics come in.

Some people carry specific genetic variants that make it harder to break down histamine—the very chemical your body releases during an allergic reaction. When you can’t clear histamine properly, it builds up, inflames your gut lining, and causes the tight junctions in your gut to open up.

And just like that, your “screen” is full of holes—and your body starts reacting to everything.

This is why one person can handle dairy or wheat just fine, while someone else gets migraines, hives, or sinus congestion. It’s not willpower—it’s wiring.

Symptoms That Might Point to a Leaky Gut/Histamine Overload Combo:

Seasonal allergies getting worse every year

Sensitivity to certain foods, especially leftovers, wine, cheese, or tomatoes

Brain fog after meals

Fatigue that doesn’t go away with sleep

Rashes, hives, or flushing after eating

IBS-like symptoms: bloating, gas, diarrhea, or constipation

Good News: You’re Not Stuck This Way

Just because your genes make you more prone to histamine buildup and leaky gut doesn’t mean you’re stuck with it. Once we know your genetic profile, I can guide you through a personalized plan to support your gut, calm your immune system, and restore balance.

Think of it as fixing the screen instead of constantly spraying bug spray.

Want to Know if Your Genes Are Making You Miserable?

This fall, don’t just treat the symptoms. Let’s find the root cause.

I’ve helped many people discover the real reason behind their “random” allergy flare-ups—and how to get their life back naturally, using science, nutrition, and decades of holistic experience.

I

Is Your DNA Making You Fat? (The Real Reason Diets Don’t Work)

“I’ve tried everything… and nothing works.”

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror and thought:

“Why can’t I lose this weight?”

“I eat pretty well—what am I doing wrong?”

“It must be my age, right?”

Then I want you to hear something you’ve probably never been told:

👉 It might not be your fault. It might be your DNA.

I’m Dr. Jack Belitz, and I’ve been helping people just like you for over 20 years. People who feel stuck, tired, and ashamed of how they look or feel—even though they’re trying.

Let’s talk about the hidden reason your body is holding on to fat… and why standard diets, boot camps, and calorie counting might be setting you up to fail.

What if the problem isn’t your willpower—but your genes?

Inside every cell in your body is a little powerhouse called your mitochondria. This is where food gets turned into fuel. When that process is working right, you feel energetic, your body burns fat for fuel, and your weight can stay in a healthy range.

But if you’ve got certain genetic variants, that whole process slows down. You don’t “burn” fuel well. You store fat instead. Your cravings increase. Your energy drops. Your metabolism stalls.

You might have one of these invisible switches flipped the wrong way—and no amount of willpower will fix it unless we know what’s going on inside.

This isn’t just about weight—this is about your life

When your metabolism slows down due to DNA-based issues, it affects everything:

You crave sugar or carbs like crazy

You crash mid-day, even after a decent night’s sleep

You exercise… but the scale won’t budge

You feel frustrated, embarrassed, and exhausted

And here’s the worst part: You might start blaming yourself.

But what if I told you that your body isn’t broken—it just needs the right support?

The test that changes everything

With a simple saliva DNA test (no blood, no needles), I can help you figure out if you’ve got gene variants that are:

Slowing your metabolism

Making it harder to burn fat

Triggering sugar cravings

Blocking nutrients from turning into energy

Once we know your unique blueprint, I’ll create a custom plan—just for you. Not some trendy diet. Not guesswork. Just what your body actually needs.

Real people. Real results.

I’ve had patients say things like:

“I finally understand why nothing worked before. I’m losing weight for the first time in years.”

“I don’t need naps anymore.”

“I’m not controlled by cravings anymore—I’m in control.”

This isn’t magic. It’s science personalized to you.

You’ve struggled long enough

If you feel like your body is fighting you, it’s time to stop guessing and get answers. Your genes don’t lie—but once we understand them, you can take back control.

📞 Click here to schedule your consultation

📍 We’re right here in Omaha.

💬 Let’s talk about what’s really going on.

You don’t have to stay stuck. I’m here to help you get your life—and your energy—back.

The DNA Connection: Why You’re Still Tired — Even When Your Labs Look “Normal”

Have you ever been told, “Your labs are fine, everything looks normal” — but you still feel tired, foggy, and drained every single day?

You’re not alone. And you’re not crazy.

Hi, I’m Dr. Jack Belitz, a holistic chiropractor with over 30 years of experience helping people just like you find answers when the medical system runs out of them. For the past two decades, I’ve integrated advanced genetic testing into my practice — and I’ve discovered that your DNA often holds the key to why you feel the way you do.

The Hidden Reason You’re Always Tired

Many people walk into my office saying:

“My thyroid tests are fine.”

“My iron levels are normal.”

“But I feel like I’m walking through mud.”

That’s because there’s a deeper issue that most doctors don’t look for: genetic variants that impact how your mitochondria — your cellular energy factories — function.

These variants aren’t diseases. They’re simply inherited traits that affect how efficiently your body creates and maintains energy. And for some people, those “traits” feel like a life sentence of fatigue, brain fog, and burnout.

Mitochondria: Your Body’s Hidden Engine

You have trillions of mitochondria. They take oxygen, nutrients, and fats — and convert them into the energy that powers your brain, muscles, heart, and immune system.

But if your DNA includes certain glitches in mitochondrial pathways (like the NDUFS genes), your body can’t generate fuel properly. It’s like trying to drive cross-country on a lawn mower.

Worse, most doctors never check for this — because standard labs don’t reveal mitochondrial dysfunction.

How I Use DNA to Rebuild Energy From the Inside Out

With MyHappyGenes® DNA testing, I uncover the exact pathways in your genetic code that are under-functioning, overworking, or blocked. But I don’t stop there.

I combine this with a comprehensive understanding of:

Natural mitochondrial repair using nutrients like CoQ10, carnitine, riboflavin, and others

Lifestyle coaching that matches your DNA strengths and weaknesses

Emotional and neurological work to get the brain and body talking again

Together, we build a personalized wellness roadmap that restores your body’s ability to make clean, lasting energy — without endless caffeine or synthetic pills.

A Real-World Example

I recently worked with a patient who was exhausted every day by noon. She was told to “just get more rest,” even though she slept nine hours a night. Her labs? “Perfect.”

When we ran her DNA, we discovered several key blocks in her mitochondrial genes. Once we addressed them with targeted, natural support, her energy completely shifted. She now goes hiking with her grandkids — something she hadn’t done in years.

You’re Not Lazy And You’re Not Weak. You’re Just Wired Differently.

Your fatigue is not in your head. It’s in your genetic wiring. And once you understand how you’re built, you can finally start building your health your way.

If you’re tired of being tired — and you’re ready for real answers from someone who listens and leads with science AND wisdom — I invite you to book a consultation.

This isn’t just testing. This is a transformation.

Is Your Family History Trying to Warn You? Discover the Gene That May Hold the Key to Preventing Parkinson’s or ALS

f you’ve ever watched a loved one lose muscle control, memory, or the ability to speak or swallow, you know how terrifying neurological diseases like Parkinson’s, ALS, or Lewy body dementia can be. Even worse? Many people live for years with vague symptoms like muscle stiffness or weakness, only to be told, “It’s just aging.”

But what if it’s not?

I’m Dr. Jack Belitz, and I’ve been helping patients unravel chronic health mysteries for over 30 years using holistic tools like advanced DNA testing, functional nutrition, and deep clinical investigation. Today, we’re talking about something critical: the real root causes of these devastating neurological disorders—and what you can do about them before it’s too late.

The Gene Most Doctors Aren’t Testing For

One of the most important genetic variants I look at when patients come in with neurological symptoms is called NDUFS, a gene deeply involved in how your cells create energy.

In plain English: if this gene isn’t working properly, your mitochondria (your body’s energy engines) start failing. And when that happens in your brain or nervous system, the results can mimic Parkinson’s, ALS, and even early dementia.

This gene isn’t commonly tested for in conventional medicine—but I see it all the time in people with symptoms that doctors have no answers for.

Real Case. Real Hope.

One patient I worked with had lost strength in his arms and was starting to struggle with swallowing. It looked like ALS, but the pattern was unusual. Doctors were stumped.

We ran a full DNA panel and found a mutation in his NDUFS gene. After careful research and testing, I designed a custom mitochondrial support protocol using high doses of CoQ10 and carnitine—a combination that hadn’t worked when used separately, but was highly effective when used together.

Within weeks, he started regaining strength. Since then, I’ve seen similar breakthroughs in other patients—people previously told there was “nothing that could be done.”

Why Early Testing is Critical

The sad truth? Most people ignore the early signs. They chalk it up to aging, fatigue, or being “out of shape.”

But those subtle changes—feeling like your legs are heavier, or your coordination is just a bit off—may be your body waving a red flag.

The earlier we identify mitochondrial breakdown and genetic weaknesses, the more we can do to support your body’s ability to recover and stabilize. DNA testing can help uncover those weaknesses before they spiral out of control.

You Are Not Doomed by Your Genes

Just because a parent or sibling had Parkinson’s doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get it too. But it is a wake-up call.

Knowing your genes lets you take action now—before symptoms become diagnosis.

I’ve made it my mission to dig deeper for my patients. I don’t just hand over a report. I interpret your genes through the lens of your unique symptoms, history, and lifestyle. Then, together, we build a plan for real, measurable change.

Your Next Step

If you’ve experienced unexplained weakness, fatigue, tremors—or you simply want to stay ahead of what runs in your family—it’s time to get your DNA tested. The results can be life-changing.

I’m here to help you translate your genes into action. Book your DNA testing appointment today and take the first step toward clarity, hope, and healing.

The truth is, creatine can be helpful — but if it gives you a major energy or mental boost, it may be revealing a deeper problem: your body isn’t doing what it’s designed to do.

Let me explain.

Your Body Should Make Creatine Naturally

Creatine is fuel for your muscles and brain. But here’s something few people realize: your body produces most of its creatine on its own — if your internal biochemistry is working the way it’s supposed to.

Specifically, your body makes creatine through a process called methylation. When methylation runs properly, it produces the raw energy and repair molecules that power your brain, muscles, memory, and more.

In fact, about 75% of the methylation process is devoted to making creatine. That’s how important it is.

The Real Issue: Are You Methylating Properly?

If you take creatine and feel way better — more alert, more energized, more mentally sharp — it may not be because creatine is so magical. It may be because your methylation process is underperforming, and creatine is patching the hole.

But patch jobs don’t solve the root problem. That’s where DNA-based wellness testing becomes a game-changer.

Through advanced testing, I can evaluate dozens of genes involved in your methylation cycle — including MTHFR, MTRR, DHFR, and others most doctors never even look at. I don’t guess. I look at your blueprint.

High Histamine? Brain Fog? Low Energy? These Are Clues.

Poor methylation doesn’t just mean low creatine. It can also lead to:

Histamine overload (seasonal allergies, sinus issues, food sensitivities)

Low mental clarity and short-term memory problems

Fatigue and poor muscle recovery

Even mood imbalances and hormone disruption

We can even confirm methylation issues with simple blood tests. Elevated whole blood histamine is one red flag I look for — and when combined with your genetic profile, it helps us build a targeted plan to support your body’s natural function.

Creatine Is a Clue — Not a Cure

Here’s the bottom line: if creatine makes you feel alive again, that’s great — but let’s not stop there. Let’s ask why it’s working so well. Your body was designed to thrive without needing that external push.

By identifying your unique genetic variants, I can help you:

Support methylation properly

Balance your brain chemistry

Build lasting energy from the inside out

I’ve spent the last 30 years helping patients go beyond symptom management to real, personalized healing. With DNA-based wellness testing, we finally have the tools to map out your biology and guide your care — with precision.

If you’ve ever said:

“Why do I react to so many things?”

“Why can’t I seem to get clear mentally anymore?”

Let’s get you tested.

The Hidden Link Between Your Genes and Cancer (And How to Take Back Control)

What most doctors aren’t telling you about your genetic cancer risk, and how you can actually do something about it

If you’ve ever had a parent, sibling, or close friend go through cancer, you’ve probably had this thought:

“Am I next?”

It’s a terrifying question. Especially if you know you carry a gene like BRCA or APOE4, or if you’ve been told you have a “family history of cancer.”

But here’s what most people don’t realize: Having a gene does not mean you are doomed. And not having a gene doesn’t mean you’re in the clear either.

As a holistic practitioner with decades of experience, I’ve helped patients understand their risk and change their future. Using DNA testing in my office, I can identify hidden genetic weaknesses that affect how your body responds to toxins, repairs cells, produces energy, and controls inflammation — all key factors in whether a cancer gene gets expressed.

Cancer Is Not Just a Genetic Lottery

Yes, certain genetic variants can increase your susceptibility to cancer. But the truth is, most cancers are not simply caused by one rogue gene. They’re triggered when genes meet a toxic environment, chronic inflammation, damaged mitochondria, or poor detox pathways.

Let me break it down:

Mitochondria are your energy factories. Damaged mitochondria = poor cell repair and increased cancer risk.

Free radicals from things like pollution, plastics, and pesticides damage your DNA daily.

If you have a weak antioxidant pathway or impaired methylation (like with the MTHFR gene), you can’t clear that damage fast enough.

Over time, those damaged cells can turn rogue.

I look at genes like GST, MTHFR, SOD2, NQO1, and VDR — not just BRCA or APOE. These lesser-known genes can silently set the stage for cancer long before symptoms show up. And most doctors never test for them.

Real Patients, Real Results

One of my patients came to me feeling anxious. Her mom had battled breast cancer. Her grandmother, too. She wanted to know: *”Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Or am I just a ticking time bomb?”

We ran her DNA through my in-office test. What we found was powerful:

She had a double variant in MTHFR, reducing her ability to detox estrogen.

Her SOD2 antioxidant pathway was underactive.

And her vitamin D receptor was compromised, affecting immune surveillance.

Instead of panic, we created a targeted plan:

Nutrients to support methylation and antioxidant function.

A detox protocol to reduce estrogen metabolites.

Sunlight and supplemental D to upregulate immune response.

Six months later, her energy was better, her anxiety was gone, and most importantly—she felt empowered.

This Is About Prevention, Not Panic

You don’t need to wait for a diagnosis to take action. When you understand your genetic blueprint, you can take smart, personalized steps to:

Reduce inflammation

Detox more efficiently

Support mitochondrial health

Protect your DNA

Stop cancer before it starts

Ready to See What Your Genes Are Saying?

I offer in-office DNA testing that goes far beyond ancestry. My reports show how your body handles toxins, hormones, and oxidative stress — and most importantly, what you can do to stay ahead of disease.

If you have a family history of cancer… if you’re always tired… if you feel like you’re doing everything “right” but still worry something’s brewing under the surface — this could be your answer.

How Dr. Jack Belitz uses genetic insights to help chronic fatigue sufferers finally feel like themselves again

If you’ve been to multiple doctors, tried every supplement, and still feel like you’re dragging yourself through life—you’re not alone. And you’re not crazy.

In my practice, I’ve met countless patients who’ve struggled with fatigue for months or even years. They’re told they’re “fine” because their lab tests come back normal. They’re given antidepressants or told to reduce stress. But their bodies keep shutting down. Their minds stay foggy. Their energy never returns.

That was my story, too. And it led me to a discovery that changed my life—and the way I practice medicine.

The Fatigue That Wouldn’t Quit

Years ago, I was working with a young patient—a bright 10-year-old boy in a wheelchair due to constant pain. He could only eat rice and broccoli without reacting violently. Forty doctors had failed to help him. His parents were desperate.

We found Lyme disease, but treating that didn’t fix everything. His symptoms persisted. I knew we were missing something.

That’s when I started exploring how our genes influence health.

The DNA Clue That Changed Everything

When I ran a DNA analysis for this boy, I discovered several key variants—particularly in genes like MTHFR, VDR, and others tied to detox, histamine breakdown, and immune response.

These weren’t just interesting data points—they were roadmaps.

His body wasn’t breaking down histamine properly. It couldn’t make the compounds needed to repair his gut. His immune system was running on empty. No matter how many supplements we gave or foods we removed, he wasn’t healing—because his system couldn’t do what it needed to.

So I changed the strategy. I built a targeted, genetic-based protocol designed to support his specific biological needs.

30 Days Later…

Everything changed.

✅ Pain: Gone.
✅ Food sensitivities: Gone.
✅ Energy: Back.
✅ Out of the wheelchair. Back in school. Back to life.

I didn’t give him “fatigue support.” I helped his body repair itself by working with what his DNA had been telling us all along.

And I’ve seen the same thing happen for teens, adults, and seniors who thought they were doomed to a lifetime of chronic exhaustion.

Why Most Doctors Miss This

Traditional medicine isn’t trained to look at root causes. If your thyroid is “within normal limits” and your iron is “fine,” fatigue gets brushed off as stress or depression.

But as a holistic chiropractor and genetic wellness practitioner, I’ve found that many cases of chronic fatigue are rooted in genetic roadblocks—issues in the pathways that power your cells, clean your system, regulate your mood, and fight infection.

These include:

MTHFR variants that impair methylation and detox

VDR gene issues that block immune support and vitamin D usage

Histamine pathway disruptions that create inflammation and brain fog

These don’t show up on standard labs. But with proper DNA analysis, they’re easy to spot—and support.

This Is What I Do Differently

At We Care Wellness Center in Omaha, I offer personalized DNA testing that doesn’t just give you a report—it gives you a path forward. We translate your genetics into practical, supportive steps:

Targeted supplementation (no more guesswork)

Nutritional strategies that work with your genes

Immune and energy pathway support

And a plan you can stick to

The goal? To help you feel better long-term, not just manage symptoms.

Tired of Feeling Tired?

If your energy has flatlined and no one’s been able to give you real answers, your genes might be the missing piece.

Let’s find out. Schedule a consultation with me, Dr. Jack Belitz, and get started on a personalized plan to finally feel like yourself again. 402-333-4848

What You Do With Your Genes Matters More Than What You Have

Many people walk around carrying a silent fear: What if I have the Alzheimer’s gene? With news headlines warning about rising dementia rates, it’s easy to feel doomed if Alzheimer’s runs in your family — especially if you’ve taken a DNA test and discovered you carry the BDNF or APOE4 variant.

Here’s the truth that most people don’t hear enough:
👉 Having those genes does not mean you’re destined to get Alzheimer’s.

That’s not just hopeful thinking — it’s backed by research and clinical insight. Dr. Jay Dunn, founder of My Happy Genes®, explains why the real issue isn’t the genes you have, but whether you turn them on.

⸻

🔬 What Activates Cognitive Decline?

While BDNF and APOE4 genes are linked to increased Alzheimer’s risk, they don’t automatically cause the disease. Think of these genes like a light switch. They’re there — but something has to flip the switch.

So what’s doing the flipping?

It almost always ties back to mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitochondria are the energy powerhouses of your cells. When they’re damaged by things like:
• Toxins, pesticides, and heavy metals (mercury, lead, aluminum),
• Antibiotics (especially fluoroquinolones like Levaquin),
• Cell phone radiation and environmental stress,

…they stop producing the energy needed to keep brain cells healthy. This stress is what turns cognitive-decline genes on.

⸻

🧠 How to Turn Off the Risk: 3 Proven Strategies

Research now shows that you can increase levels of BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) — a brain-building, protective protein — with a few key lifestyle upgrades:
1. Cold Showers
Cold exposure has been shown to naturally boost BDNF levels. Start small — even 30 seconds at the end of your hot shower can help.
2. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
Alternating short bursts of intense activity with rest helps regulate metabolism, boosts brain chemicals, and supports mitochondria.
3. Intermittent Fasting
Allowing your body to rest between meals (12–14 hours overnight) gives your brain time to detox, regulate insulin, and reset neural pathways.

Bonus: All three also help reduce inflammation — another major risk factor in age-related memory loss.

⸻

🧪 Why Get Your Genes Tested?

Knowing whether you carry the BDNF or APOE4 gene variants can be a game changer.

When people see their personal risk in black and white, it becomes real — and that creates motivation. Suddenly, the cold shower or skipped midnight snack feels worth it. And for good reason: studies show that delaying Alzheimer’s onset by even 10 years can give someone a whole decade of clear memory and life engagement they might not have had otherwise.

⸻

💡 Bottom Line

Yes, some people are genetically more susceptible to Alzheimer’s — but that doesn’t mean you’re powerless. Your daily choices are more influential than your DNA alone. By protecting your mitochondria and making strategic lifestyle upgrades, you can reduce your risk, boost your brain, and stay sharp for years to come.

👉 So, whether you’re 35 or 65…. Now is the time to take charge of your cognitive future
