Finding Relief from Depression and Anxiety: A Holistic Approach That Works

As the crisp autumn air settles in and the days grow shorter, many people find that their feelings of depression and anxiety intensify. October, with its changing leaves and spooky celebrations, can be a time of heightened emotions for some. If you are struggling with persistent anxiety or depression, you are not alone. Many people experience increased symptoms this time of year, but there are effective, natural solutions to help you reclaim your life.

At We Care Wellness Center, we specialize in holistic treatments for depression and anxiety, offering safe and natural alternatives to prescription medications. Whether you’re dealing with chronic feelings of sadness, excessive worry, or a sense of hopelessness, our approach is designed to provide long-term relief without the harsh side effects of conventional treatments like SSRIs.

Why Do Depression and Anxiety Worsen in the Fall?

Many people notice their mental health fluctuates with the change of seasons, particularly in the fall. As days become shorter and darker, this lack of sunlight can affect your body’s production of serotonin, a chemical that regulates mood. Additionally, the shift in routine and upcoming holiday stress can trigger or worsen feelings of anxiety and depression.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unable to enjoy life like you used to, it’s important to seek support. The good news is that there are natural ways to restore balance and help you feel better.

Holistic Treatment for Depression and Anxiety

At We Care Wellness Center, we take a holistic approach to mental health, focusing on personalized care that treats the root cause of your symptoms. Our treatments include:

Network Spinal Analysis: A gentle chiropractic method that reduces stress and enhances the nervous system’s function, allowing you to better manage emotional and physical tension.

Classical Homeopathy: A natural remedy system designed to stimulate your body’s self-healing processes, improving mood, energy, and overall well-being.

Personalized Consulting: We take the time to understand your unique challenges and tailor treatments to your specific needs. Together, we’ll create a comprehensive plan that addresses both your mental and physical health.

Our goal is to help you achieve long-lasting relief from anxiety and depression so you can live life to its fullest—without the unwanted side effects of traditional medications.

Why Choose Natural Alternatives?

Many people turn to antidepressants or anti-anxiety medications for relief, but these drugs come with a range of side effects, such as weight gain, sexual dysfunction, digestive issues, and a sense of emotional numbness. In fact, research shows that only 3 out of 10 people experience full relief from their symptoms with these medications.

Our holistic approach is different. We focus on healing the whole person, not just masking symptoms, and we empower our patients to take charge of their mental health naturally. By addressing both the emotional and physical aspects of depression and anxiety, we offer a path to real and lasting change.

Get Help Now – Don’t Wait!

October is a great time to seek help, especially as the winter months approach. By addressing your mental health now, you can feel more balanced and prepared to take on the challenges of the holiday season and beyond.

If you are struggling with anxiety or depression, We Care Wellness Center is here to help. With over 30 years of experience in holistic healing, we are committed to helping you feel your best, naturally.

Schedule Your Consultation Today!

Don’t let anxiety or depression hold you back from enjoying life. Contact us today to schedule your consultation and discover how our natural treatments can help you regain control of your mental health.

Alarming CDC data on teens shows…

The CDC’s chief medical officer said yesterday that teen girls are “engulfed in a growing wave of sadness, violence, and trauma,” after the agency released a report showing that 57% of teenage girls felt “persistently sad or hopeless” in 2021. That’s the highest rate in a decade and almost twice what was reported by teenage boys.

This is big news for our country. European countries apparently do not have this high of a number. It says alot about the culture of the United States right now. But, in my opinion, there is even a bigger issue. it is something that really tells how bad the situation is with teen girls. That is the fact that girls have the problem 2 times as bad as boys. That gap seems to be getting bigger. This means that girls are feeling the stress way more than the boys.

;That is interesting. One might think that girls and boys are experiencing similar stresses in their life. Why is it that the girls are reacting so much harder than boys are?

Lets try to break this down

There are 3 types of stress: Physical, Chemical and Mental/Emotional. If the combination of these 3 stresses is great enough, it puts the brain into a condition called Sympathetic overdrive. If you child reaches this state of brain function it is very likely that the thoughts will tend toward sadness, violence and hopelessness.

Because boys and girls go to the same schools and do similar activities, It makes sense that boys and girls are exposed to approximately the same type of life experiences. They go to school, have friend drama, have home life stress. But for some reason, girls are 2 times as likely to feel that life is “hopeless”.

This means that one of the 3 stresses is more overwhelming to girls than boys in a significant way. The thing is that it doesn’t have to be the same stress in all the girls. It might be 2 different ones that when the effects are added up they impact girls more than boys.

If you have a girl that is affected like this, there is a breakthrough technology that can help us determine whether this is a problem for your child. We have been using this technology for a number of years and it really helps us get right to the problem. The results are amazing when focus can be brought into the picture. If we can take enough stress off,

Give us a call or email us and we can get a scan set up and find out what is going on. .402-333-4848

Understanding Depression and Finding Natural, Effective Solutions

Introduction

Depression is a complex and often debilitating condition that affects millions of people worldwide. It can manifest as persistent sadness, lack of interest in activities once enjoyed, and even physical symptoms such as fatigue and pain. While conventional treatments like antidepressants can be helpful for some, they often come with significant side effects and do not work for everyone. At We Care Wellness Center, we offer an alternative approach that focuses on natural, holistic treatments to help you achieve true, lasting relief from depression.

The Limitations of Conventional Treatments

Antidepressants and Their Side Effects: Many people are prescribed antidepressants such as SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) and SNRIs (Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors) to manage their depression. While these medications can be effective for some, they are not without their drawbacks. Common side effects include weight gain, sexual dysfunction, gastrointestinal issues, insomnia, and even increased risk of suicidal thoughts, particularly in young adults.

Efficacy Concerns: Studies have shown that only about 3 out of 10 people experience complete relief from their depressive symptoms when using these medications as their first treatment. This leaves a significant portion of individuals searching for alternative solutions that address their unique needs without the burden of adverse effects.

A Holistic Approach to Treating Depression

At We Care Wellness Center, we believe in treating the whole person, not just the symptoms. Our holistic approach combines several natural treatments designed to promote overall well-being and address the root causes of depression.

Network Spinal: Network Spinal is a gentle, precise chiropractic technique that enhances the function of the nervous system. By improving spinal and neural integrity, Network Spinal helps reduce stress, improve mental clarity, and promote a sense of well-being. This method can be particularly effective in alleviating symptoms of depression by restoring balance to the body’s nervous system.

Classical Homeopathy: Homeopathy is a system of natural medicine that uses highly diluted substances to stimulate the body’s self-healing mechanisms. Our personalized homeopathic remedies are tailored to each individual’s specific symptoms and can address both the emotional and physical aspects of depression. This approach promotes deep, holistic healing without the harmful side effects associated with conventional medications.

Personalized Consulting: We understand that each person’s experience with depression is unique. Our personalized consulting services provide you with the tools and support you need to navigate your wellness journey. Through tailored guidance and lifestyle recommendations, we help you achieve lasting mental and emotional balance.

The Role of the Sympathetic Nervous System in Depression

Chronic stress and trauma can push the body into a prolonged sympathetic state, commonly known as the ‘fight or flight’ response. When the body remains in this state for an extended period, it can lead to symptoms of anxiety and depression. Our treatments focus on shifting the body from this heightened state of alertness to a more balanced parasympathetic state, promoting relaxation and healing.

Success Stories from We Care Wellness Center

Our holistic approach has helped many individuals reclaim their lives from the grip of depression. Here are a few success stories from our patients:

Sarah’s Transformation: “Before coming to We Care Wellness Center, I felt lost and disconnected, even from my own children. The holistic treatments helped me find joy and love for my family again. I’m now living a life full of happiness and purpose.”

Michael’s Journey: “Network Spinal and homeopathy have been game-changers for me. I struggled with depression for years, but now I feel balanced and in control of my emotions. The improvement in my mental health has been incredible.”

Take the First Step Towards Healing

If you or someone you love is struggling with depression, we invite you to explore the natural, effective solutions we offer at We Care Wellness Center. Our compassionate team is here to support you every step of the way, helping you achieve true, lasting relief.

New CDC findings are Not Good News for Teen Girls!

In our last post we went over the new finding from the CDC that showed 57% of teen girls felt persistently sad or hopeless. That number was 2 times higher than boys the same age. Their conclusion was that girls were “engulfed in a growing wave of sadness, violence, and trauma,”

Go to that post for more details. This post is about is another finding that came out at the same time. It states that 30% of teen girls had seriously considered suicide. This is up from 19% the previous year. That is a 50% increase in one year.

You Might Be Concerned…

You might be concerned If you have a teen daughter showing any of the symptoms. However, there is a great potential opportunity to avoid the thoughts of suicide. It would be nice if we had lots of studies on this subject and the causes right now. But this is too new of a subject. We can, however, use previous studies and do some interpretation. We do know that some of the biggest side effects of antidepressant medication is suicidal thoughts and tendencies.

Is it a stretch to think that if more girls are feeling a wave of depression that more girls would be taking antidepressants? Doesn’t it also make sense that if past studies have shown that people on those drugs have suicidal thoughts or tendencies that more girls would be exhibiting these symptoms?

For me, that is an easy conclusion to make and until further studies show that to be wrong, I’m going to try to fix those problems. You see, in my opinion, if we can keep the girls off the drugs, we should also keep the suicidal thoughts and attempts down.

Why is This A Problem?

Studies do show that the majority of people who are showing signs of depression are in a brain state called sympathetic overdrive. This is an important state for the brain. It is what keeps people alive who are in a life threatening situation. Unfortunately, it is possible to have enough daily stress in your life to push your brain into this state without having your life threatened.

It is based on how well your brain is able to adapt to the stresses your daily life brings. If your brain becomes overwhelmed you will go into that state. Your brain processes things differently in that state. Often people feel symptoms of depression. It is possible to make your brain work better so it can adapt better. Then, the normal stresses you have will not overwhelm your brain. There is a computer scan that can be done to determine if this is the reason depression is being felt.

We want to help with this issue. So if you have a daughter or son who is exhibiting symptoms of depression, give us a call. We can schedule a scan. Then we can determine if the services we offer can help keep your kids off the dangerous medications.

As a parent of a teen, you have a right to be worried about depression. The rates of teen depression are rising and are at record-high levels right now. For instance, the CDC estimates that feelings of sadness or hopelessness kept 42% of high school students from fully participating in activities for at least two weeks last year. Even worse, 22% of high school students in 2021 seriously considered attempting suicide.

We don’t know for sure why there is a rise in mental health issues. However, experts suggest that:

increased screen time,

social media apps,

family instability,

and social isolation during COVID

are to blame. On the other hand, it could be the increased stress in their daily lives that teens are subjected to. After all, Teens get so much more information on a daily basis than ever before. Certainly, that is going to translate to a huge increase in stress compared to any generation before.

How can you tell if you should be worried about your teen?

Depression is diagnosed by a variety of symptoms lasting at least two weeks which include:

Feelings of sadness

persistent irritability

feeling hopeless or empty

being easily frustrated

unintentional weight gain or loss or a change in appetite

changes in sleep habits

an excessive sense of worthlessness

low self-esteem

sensitivity to rejection or failure

impaired ability to think, concentrate or make decisions

frequent complaints of headaches or stomach aches

less concern for personal hygiene

use of alcohol or driugs

Just one or two of these symptoms by themselves is not a major warning. However, if the symptoms were to persist for two weeks, you should be concerned. Similarly, if you had more of them for an extended period of time, a professional should be consulted.

Which Teens Are at the Greatest Risk?

Conditions that increase the risk of depression in teens include:

excesssive stress

grieving the loss of a parent or loved one

The break-up of a romantic relationship

school issues,

having a chronic illness

being a victim of abuse, neglect, or trauma

having a netgative body imagte

parents who have depression

post-pubertal females

kids that identify as part of LGBTQIA+ community

What Are The Treatment Options?

All treatment options need to be studied before a decision is made. Indeed, prescription drugs are the biggest part of the traditional approach. In fact, the most popular drugs have the side effects of suicidal thoughts or actions. Unquestionably, I personally think this is a bad thing for teens who are already depressed. Undoubtedly, there is no way to know how your child will react until the medication is tried. Obviously, this is a very scary form of treatment to try.

A second type of approach focuses, basically, on what is causing the symptoms the teen is exhibiting. The symptoms are often associated with a brain in the sympathetic (overdrive) state. Experiencing extreme stress, consequently, pushes the brain into that state. Unfortunately, many people will overlook this potential cause if the teen has not had a single overwhelming, stressful event. However, multiple smaller events can add up and reach the level of an overwhelming state.

A very advanced form of chiropractic care called Network Spinal has been very effective in calming the brain. Once the brain is calmed, the symptoms will leave, and the teen will be back to a normal state. Many experts suggest you try this type of care first before heading to a prescription-based type of care. /this is due to the fact there are no side effects from the Network Spinal Care.

A set of computerized scans let us know whether the teen qualifies for this type of care. Call us at 402-333-4848 to set up a scan for your teen right now.

Child & Teen Suicide Attempts Rose 22% post Pandemic

Emergency room visits for suicide attempts among minors increased during the COVID pandemic, researchers found. In a paper published last month, researchers analyzed 42 studies from 18 countries and 11.1 million emergency department visits by children and adolescents. The crazy thing is that this surge happened even though there was a 32% reduction in pediatric emergency room visits.

So even though many people were so scared of COVID and stayed away from the emergency room as much as possible, these numbers were rising. In 2021 a study confirmed that the number of mental health emergency department visits for those aged 12-17 was up 31% over 2019.

If you notice that your child is displaying symptoms, you should know these numbers. It’s better to act before a problem happens than wait until it does. Many people think that suicide is something other kids do. with a huge increase like this, more and more kids are having difficulties.

One of the problems is most likely the drugs that so many doctors put these kids on. These drugs have the side effects of suicidal thoughts and tendencies written right on the documentation of the drugs.

But, I get it…

I can understand how people would still put their chidren on those dangerous drugs. They are looking for help and dont see anything else. If they go to their doctor and that is the recommendation, they probably don;t see any other option.

But there are options. One very powerful one is the specialized care we provide. If your child has the problems that we treat, we have an amazing track record of helping children diagonsed with depression and anxiety. Even though these seem like two completely different problems, they are related in that the sympathetic braincenter is working improperly.

The very specialized work we provide allows that brain center to come back to a more normal pattern,. When this happens, the brian can reduce the pressure on the emotional brain centers and calmness can be present in the brain.

How do you know if your child qualifies for this type of care? We ahve a computerized scan that we use to determine if there is a good likelyhood of success. It only takes about 10 minutes but the information we get from that scan is amazing.

If your child is dealing with suicidal thoughts or even if you are concerned, lets get a scan done and see what help can be given to your child.

Depression and the Winter Blues

For those who suffer from Seasonal Affected Disorder, that issue is about to end because spring is here…Finally. If you don’t know what that is, I’ll explain.

There are people who have symptoms of depression that begin when the days start getting shorter, usually in November or December, and the feeling may last until the beginning of spring. Since spring is here, you may be done; however, if you aren’t, there may be a good reason for that.

Something very important for the body to be able to do is adapt to changes in your environment. People who have depression symptoms often have a problem with this. Their body has a difficult time adapting to changes. The number one reason for this is that the nervous system is not able to respond the way it should.

The ability to detect and fix this problem is one of the main reasons our office is so successful in helping people who are dealing with depression symptoms. When the body has lost the ablity to adapt properly, something happens. Your higher brain centers are pushed into what is called “sympathetic overdrive”. When your brain is in this state, you will potentially exhibit many of the symptoms of depression.

What Can Stop The Depression Symptoms

The biggest issue that causes people to go into sympathetic overdrive is stress – especially mental/emotional stress. The degree of stress you experience is relative. It’s all about how your brain interprets the environment at the time of stress. If you have had stressful life, you are prone to be more affected by stress. The old stress you experienced makes you more susceptible to being triggered by current events.

By removing the effects of the previous stresses, we are often able to lessen or eliminate the triggers so the current life events don’t trigger overresponses in the brain. This will keep you from going into sympathetic overdrive. Thus your symptoms of depression can be greatly lessened or eliminated.

To obtain a computerized scan of your nervous system to see if you qualify for this life-changing care, call us at 402=-333-4848.

Reasons To Use Chiropractic For Anxiety

Chiropractic care has a long history of providing benefits for individuals who suffer from anxiety. This type of care is an alternative to traditional care. Very often traditional care uses prescription drugs in the treatment of this problem. All prescription drugs have side effects. You avoid these side effects when using alternative approaches like chiropractic,.

Here are a few reasons why chiropractic care may help:

Chiropractic care decreases the physical tension in the body. Anxiety causes physical tension in the body. Therefore, this tension will create muscle tightness, headaches, and other discomfort and symptoms. Chiropractic adjustments are proven to alleviate this tension. Getting rid of this tension will give you more overall physical comfort. Because of this improved comfort, your level of anxiety will decrease. This has a positive impact on the symptoms.

Chiropractic improves nerve function: The spine and nervous system are connected. When vertebrae are out of position they put pressure on the nerves, leading to decreased nerve function. In other words the spine has a direct affect on nerve function. Chiropractic care corrects the misalignment of the spinal bones . This will improve nerve function, As the nerves start to work better, the symptoms of anxiety will get better. As a result, the anxiety symptoms will decrease.

Boosts mood and well-being: Chiropractic care has been shown to release endorphins, which are natural painkillers and mood boosters. By improving physical comfort and mood, chiropractic care can have a positive impact on anxiety symptoms.

Promotes relaxation: The gentle, hands-on nature of chiropractic care can help individuals feel relaxed and calm, which can help reduce symptoms.

Summary

Anxiety is a problem for at least 20% of the population. the problem can paralyze a person if the level is high. this means that if a student has anxiety they will not reach their full potential in grades; A mother with anxiety may not be able to care for their kids as well, You may not reach your full potential at work or at sports. Basically all aspects of life can be affected by anxiety

Getting the proper care is important and chiropractic care has shown it can be very helpful and there aren’t any side effects like there are with medication.

Why you go into sympathetic mindset which can lead to anxiety or depression

In the first post of this series, we learned that many people who suffer from anxiety and depression have something in common. They are stuck in a sympathetic mindset. In the last post we we into why the sympathetic mindset was so important but may be being used inappropriately. In this post we go into why the sympathetic mindset is being triggered with no immediate major threat.

The sympathetic mindset is one of the big reasons humans survived in caveman days. And just because there aren’t any wild lions or other dangerous animals roaming the streets anymore doesn’t mean we can just turn that off.

History of Sympathetic Mindset

The sympathetic mindset is what our brain goes into when there is a life threatening event happening. The way our brain works changes from stepping back and taking in the big picture, to immediately analyzing the current environment for avenues of escape or items that can be used as weapons to fend off the threat.

This sympathetic mindset was designed to be triggered on when you are facing a life threatening event. However, one important thing has changed since the caveman days. This is why so many people are dealing with anxiety and depression. That change is the advent of the smart phone. Before that, we would know about things going on with relatives and friends but really not that much. But now, we have immediate access to social media, text messages, email, news, and so much more.

What is Happening !

Now, what is happening is that instead of 1 major stress in your life, you have 5 or 10 or more relatively minor stresses all happening at the same time. Each one is not that big of deal but because they are happening at the same time they start to add up and for far too many people, they add up to a stress level that pushes them over the threshold and the sympathetic mindset kicks in. This creates a mind that reacts to events in a way that can cause symptoms of anxiety and depression.

The next post we will go over how the symptoms of anxiety and depression are triggered by the sympathetic mindset.

Anxiety and depression help in Omaha, NE

Is Stress Causing Stomach Issues

It sucks when your stomach isn’t feeling very good. Sometimes it’s after you eat when your food just seems to stay there, Other times your whole abdomen can hurt because you are constipated or have diarrhea.

How are all these things related?

Most of the time they all have a common cause… STRESS!

If the level of stress, you have goes too high, your brain can go into what is called, “Sympathetic Overdrive”. It is the biggest reason that humans are still on the planet all these years. Back in the caveman days, if your stress was super high it was because a life threatening event was happening. A wild animal walks into your area, another tribe attacks you for your food, etc. When this happens you need be able to react quickly.

In sympathetic overdrive mode you are able to take in everything in your environment quickly to search for routes of escape or what you can use for a weapon. Things also happen to your body. You need to have the energy and strength to run away from the danger or fight it off. To accomplish this, blood is diverted from the digestive organs to your arms and legs.

With this information you can understand how your stomach and intestines might start to cramp in sympathetic overdrive mode because the blood isn’t there to let the muscles work properly. A long time ago, life threatening stresses only lasted a few minutes or hours at the most. However, today, people can have so many little stresses in their life that last for weeks or months. This can create chronic stomach problems and digestive issues.

How Do non Life threatening Stresses Push You Into Sympathetic Overdrive?

Let me make it simple… We have 3 types of stress: Physical, Chemical, and Mental/Emotional. Physical stress is a car accident, or falling off a bike, or slipping on ice.

Chemical stress is easy to understand if you work in a factory, but a diet of mostly fast food is big chemical stress. So is using insecticides or pesticides on your lawn or in your house. These things are so common that often people dismiss them as irrelevant.

The third stress is mental/emotional stress. There is more of that stress hitting the average person now than at any other time in history. This is because of your phone. You have it with you every minute of the day. It brings you the internet with all that negative information, it brings you messages and emails from family members and friends that have problems. Maybe none of these stresses in your life by itself would be a big deal. However when you add them all up they might be pushing you into sympathetic overdrive.

When people say they don’t have too much stress in their life, they are thinking they don’t really have one major big stress. But the thing about stress is that it all adds up. Now you can see how people can be pushed into sympathetic overdrive without even knowing it. That is what can create stomach and digestive problems.

If this might be happening to you, we have a computerized scan that can help determine whether this is the cause of you stomach or digestive challenges. give us a call at 402-333-4848 to get that scheduled.
