Now that the kids are for school to start let’s talk about what the parents may need to put in their tool box this year!
Support – make sure that your child has a strong support system. Give them multiple adults to talk to; sometimes kids just don’t want to talk to their parents. There are many mentoring programs available. Also deign a study space for your kids it’s important in creating good habits to have a good place to study. Some kids need quiet alone space while other may need help staying on track.
Teach them to meditate; there is endless research on the benefits. Learning to quiet the mind is a beautiful life skill to pass long.
Set Goals – Have them set goals for grades, and chores in the home.
Stop mom Shaming – Your kids are going back to school where they are taught to treat other nicely and respectfully. Yet every time I turn around I see mom shaming. We don’t see Dad’s doing this, but moms are all over this one! Mom’s support each other, give advice when asked and please stop shaming other parent’s choices. Don’t want kids to bully – moms you need to stop too.
Meal Planning – Plan your meals out for the week; it will help you pack great lunches and healthy dinners! Having a meal plan cuts down on trips to the grocery store meal planning is a great time management tool.
Bring back game night! – Importance of family has been pushed aside in recent years and it is SO important! Spend quality time with your children. Research shows that spending quality family time and doing chores create more successful and fulfilled adults.
Take care of yourself – Don’t forget your needs. Take care of yourself so you can take care of your family. Get adjusted, go for walk or run, take a bubble and read that book. If you are not functioning are your highest potential.
We found that moms are most concerned about bullying and peer pressure. These are major concerns especially today. Let’s face it, kids can mean most of us were at some point. Make sure your kids are surrounded by positive, good adults that they can talk to. Sometimes counselors can be huge help when come to combating these issues.
