Normal is having 10 fingers and toes
Common is being able to pay attention in school for 30 minutes
When we start throwing words around like normal and common we loose individuality. so many people in this society are caught up in being like everyone else that we forget that medically, psychologically and every other way, we are all different. No 2 tigers have the same stripes, there aren’t even 2 snow flakes exactly the same shape.  This rule applies to humans as well.
There isn’t a human alive that has all of the “normal” measurements including a 98.6 temperature, 120/80 bp resting heart rate of 100 beats / minute etc. These numbers are merely an average and something that is reported in text books as “normal”, but everyone is uniquely different.  For some people a 120/80 blood pressure is perfect for others like major athletes, that blood pressure would signal hypertension and be a major problem, and for some people a 120/80 bp would be borderline low and could signal other problems.

Yes…

There are people in this world do well being judged by the normal values, but definitely not everyone and this is where the big problems come in. People are often misdiagnosed and then potentially wrongly medicated. We also get into an issue of labeling and putting children in Psychological boxes (based on theses diagnoses) hindering their potential. The medical system works off symptom treatment, if the symptom stops interfering with life it’s considered a success despite long term and immediate side effects.
So the question is how do you keep your kiddo from being just another face in the crowd who is held to the standards of “normal” especially when it comes to medications which have the potential to do so much harm?
You could start documenting your child’s vital statistics when they are feeling good.  what is their blood pressure, temperature, heart rate on a normal day.  One reading isn’t enough.  You have to take the measurements over many days/weeks to find your normal. *As well documenting behaviors and emotions.

Create healthy study habits that leave room for your child to explore their personal interests.
Make expectations with the teachers and school and in your home that fit your child.
Exercise. We know it can be hard to physical activity in through the school year but it’s so important! Get creative, Yoga, jumping jacks, sit ups, none of these take up a lot of space and can easily be done just about any where.

Last & Most Important

See a chiropractor, get checked, get adjusted. Recognize that your Child’s’ body has an amazing healing power inside it self. The only way we get sick or fail to heal in a relatively short time is if your communication system is some way compromised; complicating the coordination of all healing that should take place daily.  Chiropractors specialize in finding problems in the communication system and fixing them so that internal healing is allowed to work at its peak potential which minimizes the need for doctor visits, the need for diagnoses and medications and increasing quality of life
